The folkloric group "Coros y Danzas de Santander" began its activity in 1950 since the foundation of the "Coros y Danzas de España", formalizing itself as a cultural association in 1984. It maintains a School of Dance and continues to carry out research and cultural dissemination activities.

This group has participated in numerous National Competitions of Choirs and Dances, being selected for the final phase, obtaining the first place on three occasions (in the years 1950, 1966 and 1970). In 1986 he performed at the International Festival of Burgas (Bulgaria) getting the Gold Medal and having the honor of being the first Spanish group to participate. In 1977 he was awarded the European Prize for FOLK ART, by the F.V.S. Foundation of Hamburg (Germany), in recognition of his merits in the collection, conservation, and dissemination of popular songs and dances, as well as regional costumes, contributing with his example in a remarkable way to the promotion and stimulation of Popular Art. In 2005 he represented Spain in the "International Mountain Festival of Zakopane" (Poland), obtaining the Silver Axe award. Representing Cantabria, he has participated in the three editions of the show of Traditional Music and Dance of Spain "ARRAIGO", organized by CIOFF and the Spanish Ministry of Culture.

Its artistic repertoire is composed of dances and dances (romances, jotas, pilgrimage dances, warrior dances) of great variety and color, originating from different areas and regions of Cantabria.He is a member of FACYDE (Federation of Associations of Choirs and Dances of Spain).
